Pro Tools Hotkeys

1. Creating Tracks


creating tracks    
cmd + shift + N   create new track(s)
or   create more tracks
cmd + or   mono/stereo
cmd + or   change track type
cmd + shift + or ↓**   create different type of tracks
cmd + enter   rename next track (when renaming tracks)

2. Recording


Recording    
3 numpad   start recording
7 numpad   mute/unmute metronome
8 numpad   pre count on/off
alt + L   loop recording
5 numpad   punch recording
shift + f12   half-speed recording
CMD + .   delete all previous takes (in loop record)

3. Zooming


Zooming    
E   toggle zoom
T + R   zoom in/out
alt + F   horizontal zoom on selection
alt + A   show all tracks
tigerclaw + [   reset waveform size (not gain)
alt + cmd + drag   change all track heights

4. Audio Editing

hold down ctrl to apply to all playlists

Editing    
cmd + D   duplicate after
tigerclaw + click on clip   duplicate before
cmd + E   cut selection as new clip
cmd + shift E   insert silence
A   trim clip start to cursor
S   trim clip end to cursor
cmd + T   trim clip to selection
cmd + U   strip silence
D   fade clip start to cursor
G   fade clip end to cursor
F   crossfade
cmd + F   batch fade
alt + 2 or f2   slip mode
alt + 4 or f4   grid mode
alt + ctrl + -   change grid size
cmd + 0 numpad   quantize to grid
cmd + alt + V   repeat paste to fill selection
Nudge    
, or .   nudge left/right
ctrl + (+ / )   nudge audio left/right (clip stays at the same place)
alt + cmd + -   change nudge value
hold ctrl while trimming   trim up to, but not over, adjacent clips

5. Edit Selection


Edit Selection    
tab   tab to next transient
alt + tab   tab to previous transient
cmd + alt + tab   enable tab to transient
ctrl + cmd +   go to and select next clip
ctrl + cmd + L   go to and select previous clip

6. Playlist Editing


Playlist Editing    
ctrl + /   new playlist (actually a backslash instead of forward slash)
ctrl + cmd + click   switch between waveform/playlists (when u click on the blue arrow)
P or ;   select track up/down
SHIFT + ↑ or ↓   cycle through playlists
CMD + SHIFT + ↑ or ↓   cycle through playlists in the edit selection
shift + S   solo track (need to select the track first)
alt + shift +   promote selection to main playlist
SHIFT + →   make selected playlist the main playlist

7. Automation


Automation   also use ALT if you want to do it for all tracks
ctrl + cmd + click   click on track to show waveform
ctrl + cmd + click   click on parameter to show automation lane
tigerclaw + click   click on parameter to enable automation
alt + -   show volume automation lane for all tracks
alt + cmd + click   add breakpoint at same level as previous
alt + shift + click   add breakpoint at same level as next

8. Clips and clip gain Shortcuts


Clip gain    
cmd + alt + G   group clips
cmd + alt + U   ungroup clips
cmd + alt + R   regroup clips
Clip gain    
ctrl + shift + =   show/hide clip gain
ctrl + shift + -   show/hide clip gain automation lane
ctrl + shift + or   clip gain +/- 0.5dB
ctrl + shift + scrollweel   clip gain +/- 0.5dB
ctrl + shift + C   copy clip gain. (use cmd+v to paste)

9. Mixing


Pro Tools EQ    
ctrl + shift + click   listen to a single band
cmd + shift + click   negative to positive gain
tigerclaw + click   click on parameter to enable automation
